I don’t remember that last time I was happy.
I remember what it feels like, though.
Sometimes I get hints of potential happiness. I see a girl – a woman, perhaps, as her age is years beyond my own – speak her mind in a class. I see her talk about real things, like death and suicide and second-class citizens. I see her speak from her heart, her soul, with passion I am too timid to tap into. I feel stronger around her voice, even though it has never been directed my way.
A Facebook message, asking what the homework was for the class we share, some trivial art class, I’m sure. Except it’s not trivial when she&rsq
The forest today is perfect. The air feels cool against my skin and crisp like sweet Italian ice. A river runs through the leaf-ridden floor, swishing its way across the landscape, flicking drops of water onto my face. I inhale the smell of lush foliage and lose myself in the magic of the hundred-foot redwood. I sit down in a bed of wildflowers and listen as they whisper frantically to me that soon he will be back.
I lay myself flat and the flowers hug my thin frame as I stretch my limbs in an attempt to catch the setting sun. I feel a pressure within me that causes my arms to hesitate. I don’t want him to return.

I had a dream last night.
I had a dream last night.
You were angry and I was lost.
They searched for days for the fur on my paws.
They called my name every day until nightfall.
You were angry.
You fell, you hit your head on the mahogany table.
Rage radiated through the air
and your glare rested on me.
It was my fault.
It was always my fault, in the eyes on the back of your head.
I had a dream last night.
You were angry and I was lost.

silent still we sleep tonight
silent still we sleep tonight
beneath the stars, among their light
passing galaxies wave good-bye
a lone embark on cloudless skies
evergreen leaves move in the breeze
their movement puts our bodies at ease
comfort lingers in their height
silent still we sleep tonight
tell me your favorite
shade of rain cloud
tell me it hurts less
somewhere close to home
tell me your light
will only shine in me
tell me the end
is but a strawberry-laced dream
a breathless breath by DynamiteDaydreams, literature
Literature
a breathless breath
speaking softly to blistered eyes
bruised from pains beyond the mind
searching bodies purged from truth
flesh from bones long past due
seeking sockets amidst the marrow
an aliment from this endless terror
sinking blood repressed by death
an ill escape, a breathless breath
the vile singe of corruption
crushes his frozen neck
infernal fragments twist his speech
they burn his melting breath
the flames of toxic beings
destroy his dry-ice head
fluid venom eats his mind
a walking backwards death
eyes allude to paso blue
seas of past with waves anew
steady ships stir tonight
pale white masts arise in flight
sharks of her swim beneath
a storm-chilled heart to match her heat
fins shred water
they tear, they break
a sideways glance
an endless ache
